Audley preparing for Semi Final Clash against AFC Bell

Audley Re-instated in to WG Parr Trophy 1/4 Final after Gladstone Rovers have been thrown out!

Victory keeps Audley on course for title

29/04/10 22:15

Audley FC’s 3-2 victory over AFC Bell on Thursday evening means that Hullavington are guaranteed a top two finish in Division two but whether it will be as champions or as runners-up remains to be seen as Audley victory means they are now just three points behind the long time leaders with three games left to play while Matt Wilkins side have completed their 24 matches.

Bell who suffered their second loss in three days could still catch the Audley but that seems very unlikely as they would need to win all their three outstanding games while the Audley would have to lose their three games.

Rik Noonan gave Bell the lead but Audley were level before half time thanks to a brilliant 18 yard strike from Craig Manley.

The second half saw Audley take the lead with Kieren Smith scoring a awesome header, but back came Bell and they drew level through Nathan Moffat.

Both teams searched for a winner and Audley got the ball in the net but Dave Nolan’s effort was ruled out but they eventually managed to score a third with Craig Manley’s second of the evening earning Audley their sixth victory by an odd goal in their last 11 outings.

Audley claim third win in six days

Audley 8 Biddestone White Horse 0

Title chasing Audley FC claimed their third victory in six days after they followed up midweek wins over Green Bell (9-2) and Bromham (Sunday) (3-2) by beating Biddestone White Horse 8-0 to give them a win that sees them close to within three points of long time leaders Hullavington who had a free weekend.

Biddestone who played the whole game with just 10 players received praise for their efforts from the Audley’s manager Steve Mallard for the commitment they showed throughout the 90 minutes but once Mark Nolan had put the Audley in front Biddestone were always up against it. Kieren Smith made it 2-0 before Chris Yeo game them a three goal advantage with his 27th goal of the season.

Further first half goals from James Hiscox's and Nick Gapper gave Audley a 5-0 interval lead and the second half began with Gapper scoring his second of the morning for 6-0. Mike Few who was Audley’s goal scoring hero in their win over Bromham on Thursday night scored his second in four days to take the score line to 7-0.

Hullavington  2    Audley  3

Wednesday, 31 March 2010

The eagerly awaited first meeting of the season between Division two promotion hopefuls Hullavington and Audley FC beat the weather this eveneing (Wednesday)and produced a thrilling contest in a match that saw the wind play a big part.  Audley went into the match against Matt Wilkins long time leaders on the back of a 4-2 victory over AFC Bell and they knew that if they were to keep their hopes of finishing in the top two alive they needed to beat their hosts at Buckley Barracks and they did just what was required of them as they claimed first blood in what should be a thrilling climax to the campaign with a 3-2 win.

Both teams must be praised for getting the game on in what had been appalling conditions over the previous 24 hours and for kicking of at 6.00 pm to allow enough daylight time to get the 90 minutes played.

With the advantage of the wind Audley got of to a flyer and were in front on 13 seconds when Chris Yeo lobbed the Hullavington keeper from 25 yards and they doubled their lead midway through the half thanks to Dave Nolan who fried home from 18 yards to make it 2-0.

Audley scored their third in the 43rd minute and it was that man Yeo who got on the score sheet for a second time when he scrambled the ball home for his 26th goal of the season.

The second 45 minutes were a different affair, Hullavington now had the advantage of the wind but couldn’t make it count but with 15 minutes remaining they were given a way back into the game when they were awarded a penalty which was tucked away by Ed Wilkins for whom it was his 48th league goal of the campaign.

Hullavington went in search of a second and it eventually arrived when Kevin Bridgeman scored his first for the club when he headed home following a corner three minutes from time and although the hosts threw bodies forward looking for an equaliser they came up just short as time ran out on leaving them to suffer on their second loss of the season.

Hullavington remain nine points clear of the Audley at the top of the table but they have played seven more matches than Steve Mallard’s Audley side who are now looking a good bet to fill one of the two automatic promotion places but which one it will be remains to be seen as there is still a lot of football to be played before a chorus of referee’s whistles will single the end to another season.

Audley back in title race with victory over Bell

1:31pm Monday 29th March 2010

THE match of the day in Division Two between third-placed Audley FC and AFC Bell, who went into the match at Stanley Park in second, went the way of the Audley whose 4-2 victory saw the sides swap places in the table. Chris Yeo gave Audley the lead but his goal was cancelled out by Marcus Wallen to set up a thrilling second half that saw Audley go on a goalscoring spree as they avenged their recent WG Parr Trophy defeat at the hands of Gary Campbell’s Bell side.

Dave Nolan scored to give Audley a 2-1 lead, a second from Nolan made it 3-1 before Stuart Field added number four.

Craig Townsend pulled a goal back for the Bell but his effort was in vain as Audley took a deserved win that leaves them 11 points adrift of leaders Hullavington, who they meet on Wednesday night, although they have played seven fewer matches than Matt Wilkins table toppers.

Below par Audley beat Renegades, JUST!!

21/03/10 21:07

Steve Mallard manager of Audley FC was far from impressed with the way his team played against struggling Bradford Renegades as be believed it was their worse performance of the season by a long way but he was happy with the result as his team came from 2-1 down to claim a 3-2 victory and two valuable points in their bid for promotion.

Audley who had to use Kieren Smith as their stand in keeper had the better of a scrappy first half and took the lead through Stuart Field, but the expected goal rush didn’t follow and the second half was a completely different affair as Renegades got back into the contest which had a lot to do with the introduction of substitute Damian Moran who set up Lance Davis for the equaliser. Moran played in Davis after a good move and Davis’ shot went in off the post.

Renegades then shocked Audley when they took the lead in the 65th minute, again Moran supplied the ball for Davis to fire home and put the visitors to Stanley Park in front. Audley were fortunate go get back on level terms, having been awarded a penalty Chris Yeo’s spot kick was saved by keeper Darren Gant but it was ordered to be retaken and at the second attempt Yeo tucked the ball away.

With five minutes remaining Yeo conjured up a piece of magic to give Audley their win, another set piece, this time a free kick from some 25 yards out seemed to be harshly given but Yeo drove home a stunning strike to give Audley the win which they didn’t really deserve but will gladly accept.

The semi final produced and excellent game of football between two evenly matched sides and Bell owed their victory to the heroics of stand-in keeper Steve Bush who produced a brilliant display between the post to restrict a rampant Audley side to a 1-0 half time lead.

Kieren Smith gave Audley the lead and at one stage they looked as if they would run away with the game and had it not been for keeper Bush they way well have.

The second half saw Bell raise their game and they scored an early equaliser from Sam Weller and from then on their was no looking back.

Audley FC made the most of their second chance of cup glory by beating first division Foresters Arms 5-2 after extra time. Second division Audley who were beaten 4-3 by fourth division Gladstone Rovers in the previous round were given a second bite of the cherry after Gladstone were removed from the quarter-finals for fielding an ineligible player in their win over the Audley.

Audley took the lead after 15 minutes when Craig Manley smashed home from 6 yards. The audley then stepped up the pressure when a through ball from Mark Nolan was slotted home by Adam O’Keeffe on half n hour. The Forresters then got into the games and were rewarded  by a deflected Tom Bentley goal, this saw the Foresters go in at the break trailing by the odd goal. Forresters started the second half how they finished the first and Jamie Treweke got Foresters back on level terms. The second half saw chances from Nolan, Yeo and O'keeffe saved brilliantly by the forresters keeper.

The game went into an added 30 minutes which saw Foresters run out of steam as Audley seemed to find another gear. Gapper had a few long range efforts and an O'Keeffe header was cleared off the line by. Then finally Mark Nolan reclaimed the lead for Audley with a 40 yard run and a nice little slot under the keepers legs. Nick Gapper was then taken clean out in the area and Chris Yeo gave them a two goal cushion when he scored from the penalty spot, but as Audley had been in a similar position early in the game they didn’t take anything for granted and finally sealed their place in the last four when Dave Nolan fired home goal number five for the Audley and his 19th of the season.

Audley FC were missing a few of their major players for their match away at Biddestone White Horse and although they weren’t at their best they did enough to claim maximum points. Michael Few deputised in goal afer returning to the team following his lay off from Injury. Simon Moore came into the defence for his first start of the season. Audley dominated from the first whistle to the last and if it were not for their passing in the final 3rd could of ended up smashing their hosts. Apparently the Biddestone side were at a loss as to how they had actually suffered a defeat in a game. Simply it was down to them only having 3 or 4 chances in the whole game. Audley had 15-20 opportunities to score and on another day woud of scored 10, they only took 3. Biddestone took 1. Hence a 3-1 score.

Dave Nolan headed the Audley into the lead which they doubled early in the second half when Nolan’s shot was turned into his own net by the unlucky Sam Thomson. Biddestone finally got their reward when Chris Andrews clawed a goal back to set up a great finale. Audley missed chances through Field, O'Keeffe, Gapper, M.Nolan, Yeo, Mannley and Smith who headed over from 5 yards. Chris Yeo scored the third for Audley which sealed their ninth win of the season.

Audley FC 3 Gladstone Rovers 4 (AUDLEY GO THROUGH - AFTER GLADSTONE FIELDED INELIGIBLE PLAYER)

DAVE_NOLANNNNHAVING produced the result of the first round when they beat First Division AFC Calne 5-1, Chippenham-based Audley FC were given a reality check by local rivals Gladstone Rovers who, despite being 26 places below the Audley in league positions, pulled off the shock of the day.

They battled their way to a well-deserved 4-3 triumph that sees them as the only Fourth Division side left in this season’s competition.

Robbie Burton may have been the star of the show for Gladstone with a hat-trick, but the victory owed much to a fantastic all-round team performance.

Burton doubled Gladstone’s lead before Audley hit back with Dave Nolan reducing the arrears.

A third from Burton saw him complete an excellent first-half treble to put the underdogs in the driving seat at the break. If Gladstone thought it was going to be easier in the second period they were mistaken as Audley started a fightback with Nolan scoring his second of the game.

And a third from Nolan squared things up to set up a grandstand finale.

With the game heading towards extra time Gladstone’s Andy Bull popped up to hit what proved to be the winning goal 30 seconds from time to leave his team mates celebrating a famous victory.

Audley FC moved up to third place in the table following their stunning 8-2 victory over AFC Melksham who to date were the only side to have beaten Steve Mallard’s side in a League match, but they Audley avenged their 2-1 loss from earlier in the season in emphatic style as they dominated their guests at Stanley Park from the opening whistle but despite on a strong start they fell behind to an Ollie Woodland.

Melksham may have taken the lead against the run of play but it didn’t take long for Audley to get back on level terms through Chris Simpkins whose scuffed volleyed tied the scored at one apiece and then move ahead via a rare effort from Stuart Field. A penalty from Chris Yeo gave the Audley a 3-1 half time lead but the second period was to see the floodgates open.

Melksham drew first blood in the second half when Marcus Underwood scored from the penalty spot but from then on things went downhill as the Audley ran riot, a stunning own goal from Ashley Fletcher who ran 40 yards to help out his defence but ended up smashing the ball into his own net made it 4-2 and a header from Adam O’Keeffe made it 5-2.

Despite the loss of Mike Few with a suspected broken nose their was no let up from the Audley and Nick Gapper scored number before two goals from Sam Legg-Bagg completed the scoring as Audley to their tally for the season to 66 in nine games.

Audley 1, Biddestone Social 14

Second division Audley FC who hammered fourth division FC Boroughs in the previous round were given a football lesson by cup favourites Biddestone Social who overcame what was supposed to be a potential banana skin to their hopes of cup glory but Dan Lardner side brought the high scoring Audley side down to earth with a massive bang as they routed them 14-1 to leave Steve Mallard’s cup dreams in tatters.

Biddestone who in the past have come under attack for postponing matches have to be commended in this instance for saving their cup tie against the Audley, with the game scheduled for Stanley Park, Chippenham the matched was switched to Yatton Road home of Biddestone when Audley’s home venue was ruled out because of the weather.

Biddestone who hit six unanswered goals in the first half took the lead through Steve Healy when he got the better of the Audley keeper in a one on one situation and from then on the match was virtually one way traffic as the Biddy Boys scored for fun and in truth should have scored a lot more than they actually did. Gary Banks helped himself to a hat trick as did manager Dan Lardner who completed the scoring with his hat trick goal.

The inform Steve Healy who is having an outstanding season in front of goal added a second to his opener. Sharham Hemmati, Nat Auckland who was in Pheasant’s side who lost to Corsham Centre in last term final got in on the act as did Dan King who was part of the Centre’s winning side so if things go to plan he could end up with another cup winners medal in April.

Rob Pocock, Kris Beasley, and Jamie Lyons who scored from the penalty spot scored a goal apiece to make up Biddestone’s 14 goal haul, Rob Smith who couldn’t find the net for the winners found the target for the Audley when he helped Adam O’Keeffe’s shot into his own net to give the second division outfit their consolation..

Awesome Audley win again

27/12/09 20:13

A strong performance from Audley FC saw them take the points from their home game with Christian Malford with a 7-2 win. With the advantage of the wind and a slight slope Malford held their own for the first twenty minutes until Mark Nolan broke the deadlock with a low shot to give Audley a 1-0 lead.

Six minutes later a cross from Michael Few was turned in by Chris Yeo to increase Audley’s lead to 2-0. Grant Christie kept Malford in the game with a fine double save. Malford gradually began to get back into the game and in the 39th minute Paul Knight reduced the score to 2-1 after Joe Chaffey’s superb through ball left him with only the keeper to beat.

Audley keeper Dan Quinsey stopped Malford equalising when he turned Paul Knight’s shot round the post. In the 43rd minute Audley made Malford pay when their player of the match Michael Few beat two players before scoring with a low shot. The score remained 3-1 at half time.

Audley dominated the second half with Mark Nolan increasing their lead to 4-1 after 48 minutes. Using both wind and slope well Audley’s substitute Dave Nolan increased the lead to 5-1 after 60 minute from a Mark Nolan pass. After 70 minutes Chris Yeo made it 6-1 when he outran the defence to reach a long clearance and score.

On 82 minutes Malford’s defence failed to clear a corner and Craig Manley’s low shot gave Audley a 7-1 lead. Grant Christie in the Malford goal was having a great game despite the score and it was down to him that the score line remained in single figures. He capped his performance with a penalty save in the 86th minute turning substitute Chris Shipway’s penalty past the post.

Malford had kept trying and in the 89th minute they reduced the score to 7-2 when Martyn Mackie after nice play on the left lobbed the ball over the keeper from outside the area. The game ended with a deserved 7-2 win for Audley.

Audley thump Three Crowns United 10-1

22/11/09 19:11

Chippenham based rivals Three Crowns United and Audley FC went head to head at Buckley Barracks with the Three Crowns knowing that a victory would see them reclaim pole position from an inactive Hullavington side, but things didn’t go to plan for Tony Beasley’s side as they were slaughtered by the Audley who claimed a sensational 10-1 success that saw them claim one if not their best ever results in their time on the league.

Adam O’Keeffe’s spectacular volley gave Audley the perfect start and when Chris Yeo doubled the lead for Steve Mallard’s side the must have though that they were in cruise control, but they were given a reality check when Paul Dodimead reduced the arrears for the Three Crowns but it was a false dawn as Audley then cut loose and scored at will.

Chris Yeo scored his second of the games to make it 3-1 and Dave Nolan added number four before he drove home a 40 yard thunderbolt to give his team an unbelievable 5-1 interval lead.

Things got better for the Audley in the second half as they went from strength to strength and scored another five goals, Nick Gapper claimed number six at the start of the second half. James McLaughlin made it 7-0 before Dave Nolan scored the Audley’s eighth that also saw him complete his hat trick.

A goal apiece from Kieren Smith and Mark Nolan finished the scoring off to put the icing on an incredible team performance that will leave the rest of the division hoping that things will now go down hill for the Audley who despite the victory remain in fifth place but have games in hand on all the teams above them.

AFC Melksham 2, Audley FC 1

Audley FC slumped to their first loss of the season after AFC Melksham upset the formbook and proved the pundits wrong as they claimed a 2-1 triumph from a game that they were expected to lose, but Melksham were at their very best to claim one of the results of the day.

Melksham defence knew that they would have to be at their very best as they took on divisions leading scorers who had hit 35 goals in their previous four game but they were given a rough ride by their hosts in a game that produced some hard physical battles in all areas of the park.

Melksham lost keeper Paul Haines to injury before the kick off and reserve keeper Nick Bryant must have thought he was in for a busy morning. Both sides started slow and the game saw referee Julian Satin giving free kicks for niggling fouls mostly against the visitors who were under attack from the start.

After 22 minutes Gareth Evans blasted home a fierce 20-yard free kick to give Melksham the lead.

Melksham scored their second on 39 minutes from a dazzling run on the break from Mark James who coolly rounded two defenders and the advancing Audley keeper to slot home number two.

Thanks to Melksham’s solid hardworking performance, Audley had not troubled keeper Melksham keeper Bryant once in the first half, but Audley side fired up by a Steve Mallard team talk came out of the traps at speed in the second half and Chris Rogers gave away a penalty when a hard shot from Chris Yeo hit his arms from close range and referee gave a spot kick from which Yeo scored.

Melksham regained their composure after a 10 minute spell of Audley pressure and they were able to see out the game and claim one of the surprise results of the day. Melksham were delighted to get a result that confirms to the experts that this squad is worthy of respect.

Pig & Whistle United remain rooted to the foot of the table and are still hunting for their first win of the season after they were beaten 5-1 by Audley FC whose win preserved their 100% start to the season.

Dave Nolan headed the Audley ahead and a stunning volley from Mark Nolan made it 2-0 at the break.

Pig & Whistle halved the deficit through Nathan Mantle at the start of the second half but the evergreen’s striker goal proved a false dawn as a second from Mark Nolan restored the Audley’s two goal cushion. Mike Few made it 4-1 when he knock home after a 10 man move.

Kieren Smith wrapped up the five-star victory with a fine headed effort.

Chippenham based rivals Audley FC and Pack Horse Rangers fought out a cup thriller that was finally edge by the Audley as they won 6-3 after Pack Horse had threatened a cup upset early in the second half.

A Craig Manley head gave Audley the lead, before a Richard Bolton double put the Pack Horse into the lead. Manley in his new forward role put Audley level with a clinical finish and at two-all the second half was destined to be a close one.

Pack Horse drew first blood in the second half when Carl Britton gave them a 3-2 lead, but once again back came the Audley with Dave Nolan who was now back upfront heading home the equaliser.

The next goal was always going to be important and it went to the Audley as Mark Nolan edged them 4-3 ahead. Two late goals from Chris Yeo made certain that Pack Horse who finished the game with nine players through injury had no way back into the game.

Pack Horse keeper Del Llewellyn was absolutely brilliant as he kept his team in the game with a number of great saves otherwise the Audley could have hit double figures for the third time this season.

Unlucky 13 for Renegade as Audley go mad

22/09/09 16:48

Audley FC would have been expecting a much tougher match than they got when they took on Lance Davis Bradford Renegades who were expected to give Chippenham based Audley side a tough test of their title credentials but a very depleted Renegades side were hammered 13-2 to leave the victors holding onto pole position with a better goal difference than second placed Hullavington who are the only other side in the division wit ha perfect record to date.

Audley went on the rampage from the first whistle and were three up in the opening 10 minutes and things got worse for the Renegades when they lost debutant Will Taylor with a damaged ankle and their was after they lost they lost Mike Embleton in the pre-match warm up with a pulled hamstring.

Chris Yeo maintain his good start to the season in front of goals as did Dave Nolan and Adam O,Keeffe, Yeo top scored with a four timer while both Nolan and O'Keffee scored three each.

Nick Gapper bagged a brace and James McLaughlin's single made it an unlucky 13 for the Renegades who replied through Jamie Parlour and Ashley Styles who scored a great header, but it will probably the last time that he scores for the Renegades as he looks set to depart the club for FC Bradford
